If your new year's resolution was to better your mind, then Democracy is the game for you. Despite what George Bush says, Democracy means a system whereby people are led by their elected representatives and not an excuse to go and explode a load of brown people.
Democracy is also today's Slackerjack, and if you like your games absorbing and highbrow, this is the fella for you. In fact Democracy is so taxing that we're going to refer you directly to the Democracy official explanation. You play the leader of a country and:
Democracy is a detailed simulation where each turn of the game represents 3 months of time. Elections are held every 4 years. The game has a complex internal model to represent the population of your country. A large number of different 'voter groups' are modelled, such as Motorists, Trade-Unionists, Unemployed people, Wealthy people etc. The simulation allows people to be in several groups at once, so for example, an unemployed poor motorist will be influenced by the opinions of all 3 groups when it comes to election day.
See? You feel smarter already, don't you? Imagine how you'll feel after playing Democracy.
