Well, Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated shit show of a music video for “Look What You Made Me Do” premiered at the boring af MTV VMAs last night, and some people are calling it genius because of all of it’s “hidden” messages. And by “hidden” I mean blatant and obvious as Kylie Jenner’s plastic surgery.
Taylor Swift’s new video takes jabs at more people and things than the song itself, but makes no effort to be even remotely subtle. It’s basically the music video a spite filled 14-year-old girl would make as a creative project for a junior high art class…and that basically makes all of the sense.
I’m not going to go through all of Taylor’s “hidden messages” because I honestly give zero fucks, but here are some of the things that made me roll my eyes the most:
Taylor looking like a dollar store Regina George trying to copy Britney Spears. Girl, bye.
All the snake imagery. Stop trying to reclaim your snake status. You aren’t Amber Rose trying to take back the word “slut”. You acted like a bitch and lied about dumb shit, stop being a damn fool.
The Katy Perry Grammy jab. A lot of people are saying Taylor is trying to mock Perry by scamming on her look in this scene and holding up a Grammy (Taylor has 10 Grammys, Katy has 0). Remember how I used to call Blac Chyna Our Lady of Perpetual Pettiness? Well, thanks to this song and video, home girl has been knocked down to duchess and a new queen has been crowned.
The Squad Shout out t-shirt. Taylor Swift is never one to let you forget what hot bitches are her besties and how much better her squad is than you, hence Selena and Gigi being front and center on this t-shirt. Insert eye roll the size of Taylor Swift’s ego.
